By way of preamble:
I confess that I have previously and will now continue to argue that Jon Stewart and his writing staff and their spin-off cousins at the Colbert Reporrrrrrr... have a more accurate and nuanced insight into America's national and geo-political situation and woes than the Democratic Party and its spokespeople... and by obvious implication, the GOP.
I am not being cute about this. Jon Stewart and his staff are more aware and more attuned and more informed than the "poly-sci" brigades around both parties. The Stewart-Colbert staffers also appeal to a higher moral standard about truth and moral intent than the either party's national leadership.
I wrote, without sarcasm, about the greater virtue of a Jon Stewart presidency over.. at the time...an Obama, Clinton or Edwards presidency.
(As much as I grudgingly admire the big-dog... I like the fact that readers of the preceding sentence intuitively were thinking Hillary.)
Last night Jon Stewart raised the bar of domestic and international debate in ways that deserve MORE recognition than those of the delightful Craig Ferguson.
