It may be passing strange that the only Republican presidential candidate in the last 56 years to put forward a "viable vice-presidential candidate" was Ronald Reagan.
This esteemed president of the Republican variety put forth George Herbert Walker Bush. Not earth-shaking... "do no harm"... and more than adequately credentialed. Not long after innauguration that lone visionary president barely dodged the .. event.
